This advertisement is from the 2012 presidential election in the USA. It's an ad supporting the democratic candidate Barack Obama. The advertisement basically bashes republican candidate Mitt Romney by showing how bad he was as governor. It talks about how many jobs Massachusetts lost and how it fell to fourth from the bottom. He was also giving jobs to people outside of the country from India instead of giving jobs to people in his state. It even says how he cut taxes from the rich, but raised them for the poor and middle class.
This is a common type of commercial for a presidential election because it’s the type of ad American citizens will see very frequently during their commercials. This is one I’ve actually seen very often during election time last year. Many candidates make advertisements that bash the other candidate and bad mouth them instead of saying that the candidate it supports will actually do if elected. That is exactly what this ad does. It says a lot of faults that Romney has, but it doesn’t say one thing about what Obama would do if he was re-elected. It is trying to turn people against Romney. The president is supposed to be someone who represents the people but Romney doesn’t represent the people, from watching this ad it makes it out that he only represents the rich white people and that’s who he cares about. Obama on the other had will represent everyone, but just the rich and white.
The last thing is when watching political ads one can’t just watch one, they need to watch more and do their own research because commercials like this will be biased, and not necessarily completely trutheful.
