The "I Voted" Sticker

The video above is from the 2012 presidential election in the US. The video is an advertisement that supports the democratic party and candidate Barack Obama. The advert shows celebrities such as Eva Longoria, Zach Braff, Olivia Wilde and Aisha Tyler promoting voting and being proud to vote by wearing the "I Voted" sticker. The ad campaign is specifically targeted at young people. The video states that it was the younger generation who won the election previously in 2008, and that they now need them to do it again. The advert also adds that it is in the younger generations best interest to vote as they are the ones who will be needing college and healthcare.

I think the video is an effective ad campaign as I think the video would come off as appealing specifically for the young target audience they have aimed this at. The video goes into hardly any detail about the democratic party and what they aim to achieve, nor does it state specifically how the party is going to make a better country for the voter. However, I do not think this would put off most of the young people the video is aimed at off, as I do not think someone young would necessarily watch this particular advert for the political content, but rather because the party has used celebrities to promote their message. Thus I think the young target audience this video is aimed at would be watching this video and voting in support of this video more for the popular aspect rather than because it is a cause they are truly passionate about.
